Email on your domain / Proton Mail

Proton Mail on your domain. The exact records.

The DNS records Proton Mail’s own docs ask for, so mail to you@yourdomain arrives and what you send isn’t marked as spam. Add them at your domain’s DNS provider, then check your domain live below.

  1. Add these records at your DNS provider

“@” means the domain itself. MX records receive mail; SPF, DKIM and DMARC prove that mail you send is really yours.

    TypeNameValue
TXTProve you own the domain@protonmail-verification=… (copy from Proton)Different for every account: copy it from Proton Mail.
    MXReceive mail@mail.protonmail.chPriority 10
    MXReceive mail (backup)@mailsec.protonmail.chPriority 20
    TXTAllowed senders (SPF)@v=spf1 include:_spf.protonmail.ch ~all
CNAMESigning key (DKIM)protonmail._domainkeyCopy from Proton (3 records)Different for every account: copy it from Proton Mail.
    TXTAnti-spoofing (DMARC)_dmarcv=DMARC1; p=none

  2. Good to know

Proton shows a verification code and three DKIM records for your domain under Settings → Domain names → Review.

A domain can have only one SPF record. If your app also sends email through another service, the two must be merged into one: add the service below and the check gives you the merged record.

  3. Check your domain

Type your domain: we read public DNS and show which Proton Mail records are in place, which are missing and which need to change.
